Introduction to Career Progression and Training at Spirit
At Spirit Health Clubs, we are committed to supporting the continuous professional development of all our employees. We pride ourselves on having instructors who offer the very best in fitness advice and personal service to members and guests, so it is vital that they have the latest training and understanding to deliver a consistently high level of support. Many of our courses are accredited by the Awarding Body Active IQ, and therefore are recognised by the Register of Exercise Professionals.
We believe it is important to invest in our people in order to support their career progression with Spirit Health Clubs. However, the Working in Fitness Survey (conducted by Skills Active and the Register of Exercise Professionals) found that 20% of respondents felt they have not received adequate training for their job. This is not so with Spirit Health Clubs. Regardless of anything else, if you have a friendly and helpful personality, we will give you the knowledge and skills. Our core training programme covers the following:
- Gym Foundation Certificate
- Gym Instructor Certificate
- Advanced Instructor Certificate
- Personal Trainer
The initial training that our Lifestyle Consultants complete is First Aid and Pool Attendant qualifications. Following this, they complete a training programme of various gym instructor qualifications; Gym Foundation Certificate, Gym Instructor Certificate and Advanced Instructor Certificate. This internal training programme is approved and verified by the Awarding Body 'Active IQ' , which provides our Lifestyle Consultants with access to cutting-edge techniques, research and coaching, as well as ensuring they all reach Level 2 and Level 3 accreditation on the Register of Exercise Professionals. Our partnership with Active IQ allows us not only to comply with Fitness Industry Association codes of practice, but also to continue investing in all our people.
