Eastleigh flies the flag for Spirit Health Clubs
Club Manager Jonathan Eggett, flew the flag for Spirit Health Clubs in the recent Transcotland 7 day mountain bike race. The gruelling week long event included some of Scotland's finest mountain biking tracks and trails.
Over 250 riders participated in the race, which covered over 500km throughout Dumfries and Galloway, with a total ascent climbed over the week in excess of 43,000ft, nearly 1.5 times the height of Mount Everest.
Riding in the Male Pairs category for his team www.spirithealthclubs.co.uk, Jonathan and his team mate Andy Prince, completed the event in a very creditable 22nd position.
"I prepared for the event throughout the winter" stated Jonathan, "Being able to train before and after work, and have access to a fully equipped gym certainly made it easier to prepare than going out for rides on dark evenings earlier in the year. By combining exercise sessions on the treadmill, rower, cross trainer and stepper I found my overall fitness and cycling improved".
Plans are now being made at the Eastleigh Spirit Health Club to create a Trans Spirit gym challenge event for all the club members to participate in, although we won't be making anyone ride to the top of Everest!!

Spirit Health Club Eastleigh Charity Auction raises £450
Spirit Health Club Eastleigh members raised £450 for the British Heart Foundation with their charity auction with a difference. Basing the principle of the auction on a well known internet site, the staff created eSpirit.
With a fantastic range of lots donated by members, local businesses and organisations, the staff created a noticeboard displaying each item and the current highest bid value. Each time club members visited the club they could see whether their bid was the highest and if not place a higher one.
The auction ran over 3 weeks, and as the auction deadline approached, the bidding increased, infact in the last couple of minutes before teh action finished , two club members bid against each other face to face, all in the name of charity.
"We were delighted to exceed our target of £400" said Deputy Club Manager Vicki Stonebanks. Creator of the idea Lifestyle Consultant Gareth Smith stated "When I first came up with the idea, I never thought it would prove so popular, I think we'll certainly use this style of auction again in the future".
This fundraising event is just one of many events which the Spirit Health Club Eastleigh gets involved in. If you would like further information on the club or we can help you with your fundraising please call today on 023 80614120.
