From 1986 to 2005, Karen Pickering was an outstanding member of the British Swimming Squad, winning over 35 medals (eight Gold) in both World and European Championships and the Commonwealth Games. She also won 38 National Championship titles, competed in 4 Olympic Games, and in 1994 was awarded an MBE for her services to swimming.
Now the athlete is encouraging the next generation of youngsters to take part in the sport she loves, and maybe follow in her footsteps, with her own ‘learn to swim schools’.
On Wednesday 16th January, Karen launched ‘Karen Pickering SWIM’ at the Holiday Inn Portsmouth by introducing herself to children of all ages when they were presented with swimming certificates.

Lessons will include ‘bump to baby SWIM’, parent and baby/toddler classes, children's learn to swim, adult lessons, one-to-one tuition, improvers classes and SWIM Slim (adult swimming for fitness lessons).
